There are a lot of plant-based resources out there.
So what do we have to add to what’s already there?
I am Carol Barnett, your primary guide on this short course. I am a member of the Rochester Lifestyle Medicine Institute (RLMI) team. As of June 2024, I and my husband, Ted Barnett, MD—also known as “Dr Veggie”—have been plant-based for more than 30 years. We have raised three vegan children, now in their 30s—happy, healthy, and still vegan. We have coordinated the local veg society, the Rochester Area Vegan Society, for almost 30 years. Dr. Barnett founded RLMI in 2015; in 2018, RLMI developed the 15-Day Whole-Food Plant-Based Jumpstart, which has helped more than 2500 people achieve better health, often experiencing dramatic improvements in their weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol.
“Going Plant-Based” is a self-paced course made up of 9 short videos and 5 course handouts.
Topics include:
What is Whole-Food Plant-Based?
Why Eat This Way?
How Do I Do it?
What Challenges Will I Encounter?
What’s the Big Picture?
By the end of the course, you will know more about plant-based nutrition and have the confidence to cook and eat plant-based. “Going Plant-Based” is an overview, but it will give you the tools to learn and experience more about plant-based diet on your own initiative.
You are taking this course on Pale Blue Dot Community platform. We hope you stay, to form friendships and share ideas about how we can support life and health for all creatures on this beautiful planet.
In health,
Carol H. Barnett, PhD, JD
