Black Bean Burgers - Fatfree Vegan
Susan Voisin is the creator of Fatfree Vegan. She says: "I went vegetarian in 1988 because I didn’t want to eat animals. Then, about 6 years later, I eliminated all animal products from my diet (and as many as possible from my life).” She used to live in Mississippi and now lives in Louisiana, with her husband and several rescued cats and dogs.
Voisin's website features a lot more than recipes, including a blog she has written since 2006.
Even though the site is called “Fatfree Vegan,” it’s not really fat free; it’s just free of added fat or oil in cooking. Most whole plant foods contain fat and that’s a good thing: it provides the fat we need. At least one of Voisin’s recipes contains high-fat plant foods, a recipe for Cashew Ranch Dressing. But most of her recipes seem to avoid high-fat plant foods, which is great for those on Jumpstart or following a Jumpstart or Esseslstyn-style diet.
The recipe categories include a section on “Fat-free Tips” and a section on “How To.” Lots to explore here.
I’ve attached an easy recipe for Black Bean Burgers. Enjoy!
