Everything But the Kitchen Sink

Budget Vegan blogspot, created by Desert Dogs California, is a beautiful site dedicated to reverence for all living beings, reflected in food choices and every other part of one’s life.

Here is a post from April 19, 2013, about a third of the way through the period covered by the blog:

I decided to go back to this blog, because I have a new job and will be packing my lunch. I'm both excited and nervous to be starting a new career. I will be working for a non-profit that helps developmentally disabled adults find work. A lot has changed since I last updated. I got married!! I still have Pepper and Wookiee, my dogs. My husband has a dog named Luna. Arya [a guinea pig] is still doing well, but her friend passed away. I adopted her a new friend. I also adopted two baby rats whose mother was saved from becoming snake food. I sometimes do temp work or volunteer for the amazing Gentle Barn. [Gentle Barn is a farmed animal sanctuary in the San Fernando Valley, California.] Desert Dogs then posts a photo of her lunch.

At the time she started this blog in 2009, Desert Dogs was a college student and also “hit hard by the economy” (who can forget the crash of 2008?). She was managing on a tight budget and wanted to share her food ideas because “no one should eat poorly.” Desert Dogs, wherever you are, we wish you continue abundance!
